Education Programs

DHSA’s education program is partnered with the Ministry of Education, The US Agency for International Development and The World Bank on an extensive, long term teacher training and accelerated learning program. The program works to bring Afghanistan’s average teachers with only a 6th grade education themselves up to a 12th grade level so that they can provide a better quality of education to their students and communities. DHSA was one of the first Afghan NGO’s to launch this program in 2003, benefiting more than 4000 teachers and thousands of students in rural Afghanistan to date. DHSA also manages three non profit schools in Kabul and Khost provinces in order to enhance public access to quality education. In 2009, we plan to work with the Afghan Ministry of Education and rural communities significantly expand the number of school’s and qualified teachers in Afghanistan.
